Award-Winning Manga Chi.: Chikyuu no Undou ni Tsuite to Be Adapted to Anime by Madhouse

A press release announced that the award-winning manga written and illustrated by Uoto, Chi.: Chikyuu no Undou nor Tsuite (About the Movement of the Earth), will have an anime adaptation produced by studios mad house. The press release did not reveal a scheduled release date, but did include a message from the author, who wrote:

  • «I’m very happy. I remember a few years ago I would go to a friend’s house in Nakano and stop by Madhouse every week. At that time, I never dreamed that my manga would be animated there. I am deeply moved and I am already looking forward to it».

Uoto began publication of the manga through the magazine Big Comic Spirits from the publisher Shogakukan in September 2020, and ended it in April 2022 with a total of eight published compilation volumes. The work won the coveted Grand Prize at the twenty-sixth edition of the Osamu Tezuka Cultural Awardheld in the year 2022 in Japan.

Synopsis for Chi.: Chikyuu no Undou ni Tsuite

The setting is 15th century Europe. It is a time when heretical ideas are burned at the stake. The protagonist, Raphau, a child prodigy, must specialize in theology, the most important subject of the time, at the university, where he plans to skip a course. However, one day a mysterious man appears at Raphau’s door studying a certain “truth” in the midst of heretical thought.
