Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War confirms its arrival on Disney Plus

The distribution company Viz Average officially confirmed that the anime Bleach: Sennen Kessen-hen (Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War) will be distributed internationally through the platform Disney Pluswhile Hulu will handle its distribution in the United States. Viz Average holds worldwide rights to the series (excluding Asia and Arabic-speaking countries in Africa and the Middle East), and confirmed that the episodes will be simulcast in the US, it has not been confirmed if the same will happen in the rest of the territories.

The series is scheduled to premiere on October 10 in Japan, while previous seasons have already been removed from other distribution services such as Crunchyroll, hbo max Y Netflixto confirm some.

Tite Kubo published the original manga in the magazine Weekly Shōnen Jump from the publisher Shueisha between August 2001 and August 2016, compiling the work in a total of 74 volumes. The work inspired an anime adaptation produced by the studios Pierrotunder the direction of Noriyuki Abebroadcast between October 2004 and March 2012, with a total of 366 episodes.

Production team

Tomohisa Taguchi (Twin Star Exorcists, Kino’s Journey – The Beautiful World, Akudama Drive) replaces Noriyuki Abe in the direction of the project Studio Pierrotand is also in charge of writing and supervising the scripts in collaboration with Masaki Hiramatsu (Kara no Kyoukai, Minori Scramble!)

Masashi Kudō (Naruto, Bleach, Code Geass: Hangyaku no Lelouch) returns to handle character design and animation direction.

Shirou Sagisu (Neon Genesis Evangelion, Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic, Black Bullet) is responsible for the composition of the soundtrack.

Synopsis for Bleach

Ichigo Kurosaki is an ordinary high school student, until his family is attacked by a Hollow, a corrupting spirit that seeks to devour human souls. It is then that he meets a Soul Reaper named Rukia Kuchiki, who is injured while she is protecting Ichigo’s family from the assailant. In order to save the family from him, Ichigo accepts Rukia’s offer to take her powers and as a result, becomes a Soul Reaper.

However, with Rukia unable to regain her own power, Ichigo is faced with the daunting task of hunting down the Hollows plaguing his city. However, he is not alone in his fight, as he is later joined by his friends: classmates Orihime Inoue, Yasutora Sado, and Uryuu Ishida, who have their own unique abilities. As Ichigo and his comrades adjust to their new responsibilities and support each other on and off the battlefield, the young Soul Reaper will soon discover that the Hollows are just the least of his problems.
