Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War will return until July 2023

After the airing of the final episode of the anime Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War (Bleach: Sennen Kessen-hen), the production shared a new promotional video announcing that the second part of the series will premiere in the Summer-2023 season (July-September) in Japan. It should be noted that it is not yet confirmed how many “parts” this series will have, but according to fans there is still a lot to adapt.

The series has been broadcast since October 11 in Japan (first part), while the platform disneyplus is in charge of its distribution in the West in a very limited way. The first part had a total of thirteen episodes, but also it is confirmed that everything that remains of the original manga will be adapted.

The production also shared the special closing sequence with which the thirteenth episode counted, the last of the first part, which has the musical theme “Saihate (最果て)” interpreted by SennaRin.

For his part, Tite Kubo published the original manga in the magazine Weekly Shōnen Jump from the publisher Shueisha between August 2001 and August 2016, compiling the work in a total of 74 volumes. The work inspired an anime adaptation produced by the studios Pierrotunder the direction of Noriyuki Abebroadcast between October 2004 and March 2012, with a total of 366 episodes.

Production team

  • Tomohisa Taguchi (Twin Star Exorcists, Kino’s Journey – The Beautiful World, Akudama Drive) replaces Noriyuki Abe in the direction of the project in Studio Pierrotand is also in charge of writing and supervising the scripts in collaboration with Masaki Hiramatsu (Kara no Kyoukai, Minori Scramble!)
  • masashi kudou (Naruto, Bleach, Code Geass: Hangyaku no Lelouch) returns to handle character design and animation direction.
  • Shirou Sagisu (Neon Genesis Evangelion, Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic, Black Bullet) is in charge of composing the soundtrack.

Synopsis for Bleach

Ichigo Kurosaki is an ordinary high school student, until his family is attacked by a Hollow, a corrupted spirit that seeks to devour human souls. It is then that he meets a Soul Reaper named Rukia Kuchiki, who is injured while she is protecting Ichigo’s family from the assailant. In order to save the family from him, Ichigo accepts Rukia’s offer to take her powers, becoming a Soul Reaper as a result.

However, with Rukia unable to regain her own power, Ichigo is faced with the daunting task of hunting down the Hollows plaguing his town. However, he is not alone in his fight, as he is later joined by his friends: classmates Orihime Inoue, Yasutora Sado, and Uryuu Ishida, who have their own unique abilities. As Ichigo and his comrades grow accustomed to their new responsibilities and support each other on and off the battlefield, the young Soul Reaper soon discovers that the Hollows are hardly the least of his problems.
