Synopsis for Hikari no Ou
The story takes place in a world in the chaotic aftermath of humanity’s Last War. A great forest, infested with flaming creatures and other fallen beasts, covers the world, and pockets of humanity live in small, sheltered communities. Due to a special weapon used during the Last War, humans spontaneously burst into flames even if they get close to a small source of fire. Thus, the only safe source of energy for humans is found within the body of the burning beasts, and the duty of hunting them falls to the hunters who brave the depths of the great forest. Thus, the story begins with Touko, a young girl in a paper-making town, who is assaulted by a flaming beast and protected by a hunter. Elsewhere, a young man born in the capital named Kouishi now protects his younger sister after his mother passed away.
