HUNTER x HUNTER author hits Twitter and could be picking up the manga
This morning the Twitter account came up “冨樫義博 (@Un4v5s8bgsVk9Xp)“, whose main name translates as Yoshihiro Togashiauthor of the popular manga HUNTER x HUNTER. The user in question posted a photograph of what appears to be a workbook and wrote: “Four more chapters for now».
Sure, the post drew tens of thousands of reactions, but it also garnered some skepticism from fans, as the popular account commented “@WSJ_Manga“: «There is currently no official message or report from Shueisha confirming the veracity of the account claiming to be HUNTER x HUNTER mangaka Yoshihiro Togashi. Please refrain from sharing or making misleading claims until an official statement is made. As a reminder, another similar fake account appeared on Twitter last month claiming to be Yoshihiro Togashi, which was quickly debunked and ignored.».
But things didn’t stay that way, it turns out Yusuke Muratain charge of the manga adaptation of One Punch Manposted an update by sharing the post in question and writing: “We were told that it is Togashi himself», confirming that the account is, in fact, authentic. Given the message Togashi shared on Twitter, it can be inferred that he has started working on the HUNTER x HUNTER chapters again, since he does not have any other series in print.
Togashi began publication of the manga in the magazine Weekly Shōnen Jump from the publisher Shueisha in March 1998, and the publisher published the thirty-sixth compiled book volume in October 2018 in Japan. The work has been on hiatus since November 2018 (which in fact is only its current and longest hiatus, since it had already been on multiple hiatus previously), due to the author’s health problems.
HUNTER x HUNTER Synopsis
HUNTER x HUNTER is set in a world where hunters exist to perform all kinds of dangerous tasks, such as capturing criminals and bravely searching for lost treasures in uncharted territories. Twelve-year-old Gon Freecss is determined to become the best hunter he can be in hopes of finding his father, who was a hunter and abandoned his family long ago. However, Gon soon realizes that the path to achieving his goals is far more challenging than he ever imagined.
On the way to becoming an official hunter, Gon befriends the spirited doctor-in-training Leorio, the vengeful Kurapika, and the rebellious ex-assassin Killua. To achieve their own goals and wishes, the four of them together take the Hunter Exam, known for its low success rate and high chance of death. Along their journey, Gon and his friends embark on an adventure that puts them through many hardships and struggles. They’ll meet a host of monsters, creatures, and characters, all while learning what it really means to be a hunter.
