Yesterday morning we reported that Yoshihiro Togashiauthor of HUNTER x HUNTERan official Twitter account had been created where he had begun to report his progress on his manuscripts (that are inferred are from the next chapters of the manga in question). By the afternoon of the same day, Togashi had already surpassed one million followers and As of the writing of this article, he already has more than 2.06 million followers, being on his way to becoming the most followed manga author on the entire platform.

In a short time Togashi managed to sneak into the second position in the ranking of manga authors with the largest number of followers, which include (at the time of writing this article) Kohei Horikoshi (boku no hero academia) in first place with 2.15 million; hiro mashima (Fairytail) in third place with 1.78 million; yomu (Ganbare, Douki-san) in fourth place with 1.37 million; Y sui ishida (Tokyo Ghoul) in fifth place with 1.35 million. This breakthrough reflects how long his fans have been waiting for him.

HUNTER x HUNTER began to be published in March 1998 in the magazine Weekly Shōnen Jumpless than a year after the start of the publication of one piece. Yoshihiro Togashi has taken numerous long breaks from publishing HUNTER x HUNTER since 2006, some of which were due to illness and chronic back pain, while the reasons for others were never revealed. Some critics have pointed out that Togashi’s slowness is due to “because he is a perfectionist who enjoys his work and wants to do things himself“, while other critics consider this “a cocky and stubborn attitude“, as it continues to occupy a space in Weekly Shonen Jump for years without actually producing anything for the publisher.

HUNTER x HUNTER Synopsis

HUNTER x HUNTER is set in a world where hunters exist to perform all kinds of dangerous tasks, such as capturing criminals and bravely searching for lost treasures in uncharted territories. Twelve-year-old Gon Freecss is determined to become the best hunter he can be in hopes of finding his father, who was a hunter and abandoned his family long ago. However, Gon soon realizes that the path to achieving his goals is far more challenging than he ever imagined.

On the way to becoming an official hunter, Gon befriends the spirited doctor-in-training Leorio, the vengeful Kurapika, and the rebellious ex-assassin Killua. To achieve their own goals and wishes, the four of them together take the Hunter Exam, known for its low success rate and high chance of death. Along their journey, Gon and his friends embark on an adventure that puts them through many hardships and struggles. They’ll meet a host of monsters, creatures, and characters, all while learning what it really means to be a hunter.
