Love Live! Nijigasaki will have an OVA next summer

During a special broadcast, it was announced that the franchise of Love Live! Nijigasaki Gakuen School Idol Doukoukai (Love Live! Nijigasaki High School Idol Club) will have an OVA that will be released in theaters in Japan during the season of Summer-2023 (July-September). The statement is not clear about the type of project, so it is possible that it is an OVA, but several episodes.

A trailer for the series of shorts was also revealed during the broadcast. Nijiyon Animationconfirming that the premiere is scheduled for January 6, 2023 in Japan. Finally, the national tour “Love Live! Nijigasaki Gakuen School Idol Club Nijitabi! TOKIMEKI FAN MEETING TOUR” was also announced for the Hiroshima, Tokyo, Aichi, Fukuoka, Osaka, and Hokaido areas, starting from April 2023.

The first season aired during the season of Autumn-2020 (October-December) and had a total of thirteen episodes, with the platforms crunchyroll Y funimation in charge of its distribution in the West. Synopsis for Love Live! Nijigasaki Gakuen School Idol Doukoukai

Buried within Nijigasaki High School’s many clubs is the Idol Club. The club, while lacking in popularity, is definitely not lacking in potential. During their debut stage, they were able to capture a sizeable audience, along with the attention of their fellow members Ayumu Uehara and Yuu Takasaki. Delighted, the duo make their way to join the club; however, they are disappointed to learn that it has just been disbanded.

However, Ayumu doesn’t think things should end there, so together with Yuu they begin to restore the school’s idol club, hoping to recreate the performances that once dazzled them. Love Live! Nijigasaki Gakuen School Idol Doukoukai highlights the reformed idol club as they recruit the two former members of the club along with other newcomer girls. Taking the first step towards their dreams, how will these girls achieve stardom in the idol world?
