One Piece Film Red is already the 10th most successful anime film in Japan
The movie One Piece Film Red it maintains its success throughout the Japanese box office, breaking new box office records every week. Recently, the Japanese press has reported that the film produced by Toei Animation has surpassed 11 billion yen, making it the 10th highest-grossing anime film of all time in Japan, surpassing Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Timepremiered in 2021.
Until August 28, the film One Piece Film Red has reached 11.45 billion yen (about 83.32 million US dollars) through more than 8.2 million ticket sales. This converts to One Piece Film Red the 10th highest-grossing anime film in Japan and the 29th highest-grossing film overall in the country, behind only Star Wars: The Force Awakens in twenty-seventh place. It is also now the second fastest film to hit 11 billion yen, right after Kimetsu no Yaiba: Mugen Ressha-hen.
In the ranking that only considers the films released in the year 2022, which the Japanese box offices follow as December 2021 to November 2022, One Piece Film Red remains in third position, behind Top Gun Maverickin second place, with an impressive 11.81 billion yen, and Jujutsu Kaisen 0with 13.75 billion yen.
