Osamu Tezuka’s Legendary Phoenix Manga Will Get a New Anime

The Walt Disney Company announced the production of a new anime adaptation of the legendary manga written and illustrated by osamu tezuka, Hi no Tori (Phoenix), which will be titled Phoenix: Eden17 and which will be produced by Studio 4°C. Of course, the distribution will be borne by the platform disneyplusY the premiere is scheduled for the year 2023 globally.

Hi no Tori (Phoenix) is an unfinished manga series written and illustrated by osamu tezuka. Tezuka considered Phoenix to be his “life’s work”; with a total of twelve books, each of which tells an independent and autonomous story and takes place in a different era. The story was never completed, having been cut short by Tezuka’s death in 1989. Several of the stories have been adapted into anime series and OVAs, and a live-action movie.

A being whose blood is said to grant eternal life or wisdom, the radiant figure ensures the continuation of sentient life in the universe, as she oversees human civilizations and their development.

Simultaneously, time and time again, certain beliefs and agendas persist through the centuries to upset the fragile balance of nature and the pre-established principles of the world.
