Ousama Ranking will have a special episode in 2023
On the official site for the anime adaptation of the manga written and illustrated by Sousuke Tooka, Ousama Ranking (Ranking of Kings), the production of a special episode was announced to premiere in 2023 in Japan. This episode will be titled “Yuki no Takarabako (Treasure Chest of Courage)” and will tell a story not seen in the anime adaptation.
For her part, Touka began publishing the manga independently through the portal Manga Hack and other services in May 2017. Subsequently, the publisher Kadokawa began its paper publication in the direct format of compiled volumes in February 2019. The work inspired a twenty-three-episode anime adaptation produced by WIT Studio and premiered during the season of Autumn-2021 (October-December).

- Taku Kishimoto (Boku dake ga Inai Machi, Fugou Keiji: Balance:Unlimited, Haikyuu!!) is in charge of writing and supervising the scripts.
- Atsuko Nozaki (Eiyuu Densetsu: Sora no Kiseki The Animation, Tokyo Magnitude 8.0) is in charge of character design and animation direction.
- MAYUCO (Hataraku Saibou, Miira no Kaikata) is responsible for the composition of the soundtrack.
Synopsis of Ousama Ranking
The people of the kingdom despise the young prince Bojji, who cannot hear or speak. They call him “The Useless Prince” while making fun of his alleged stupidity. However, although Bojji may not be physically strong, he is not weak at heart. When a chance encounter with a shadow creature should have left him traumatized, he instead leads her to believe that he has found a friend among those who only choose to look at his flaws. He begins to meet with Kage, the shadow, regularly, to the point that even the otherwise abrasive creature begins to warm to him. Kage and Bojji’s unlikely friendship lays the foundation for the prince’s journey, in which he seeks to overcome his fears and insecurities. Despite the constant teasing he faces, Bojji is determined to fulfill his wish to become the best king he can be.
