Paripi Koumei’s opening already exceeds 9 million views

On the official Twitter account for the anime adaptation of the manga by Yūto Yotsuba Y Ryou Ogawa, paripi koumei (Ya Boy Kongming!), it was announced that the opening sequence has exceeded 9 million cumulative views on YouTube. It should be noted that this series is being considered a “seasonal gem”, despite premiering in the same season as other heavyweights such as Kaguya-sama: Love is War, SPY x FAMILYamong others.

The opening theme “Chikichiki Banban” was performed by the special musical unit queendom, formed by Bibiki and Moca from Lol, Akina and Taki from FAKY and Maria Kaneya from GENIC. It is a version of the original song “Ciki Ciki Bam Bam” by the Hungarian singer Jolly-Bulikiraly released in 2013. The version was released digitally in Japan on May 20 and reached number four on Oricon’s weekly digital singles chart.

The series premiered on April 5 in Japan, while the platform HIDIVE handles its distribution in the West. On the other hand, Yūto Yotsuba began publication of the manga through the digital service Comic Days in December 2019, while the publisher Kodansha published the sixth compilation volume on July 14, followed by the seventh on November 18 in Japan.

Synopsis for Paripi Koumei

Zhuge Kongming earned a reputation as one of the greatest tacticians of the Three Kingdoms period of 3rd century China. After leading his army in countless grueling victories, Kongming falls gravely ill during the Battle of the Wuzhang Plains. The weariness and remorse stemming from the seemingly endless war catches up with him, and as he exhales his last breath, Kongming wishes that if he were to be reincarnated, it would be in a more peaceful age. His wish comes true and Kongming wakes up in present-day Tokyo with a younger body and his memories of him intact.

In an unknown world, he walks into a nightclub and meets Eiko Tsukimi, an aspiring singer whose performance immediately captivates him. Taking pity on her confusion, Eiko takes Kongming under her wing and teaches him about the current world, which makes Kongming interested in contemporary music. Seeing Eiko’s immense musical potential, Kongming swears to make her known to the world and she soon takes on the role of her manager. As expected, the music industry does not forgive those who make the slightest mistake. However, Kongming is determined to achieve his goals, even if he has to use the stratagems of war that he used in his previous life.
