Shangri-La Frontier Novels Getting Anime Adaptation
Through a press release, the production of an anime adaptation of the web novels written by katarina, Shangri-La Frontier: Kusoge Hunter, Kamige ni Idoman to su (Shangri-La Frontier: Crappy Game Hunter Challenges God-Tier Game). It had previously been reported that the adaptation would be about the manga adaptation by Ryōsuke Fujialthough in the end they are the same story.
The press release also confirmed the scheduled release in 2023 in Japan, and revealed the project’s voice cast and production team.
For his part, Fuji began publishing the manga in the magazine Weekly Shōnen Magazine of Kodansha in July 2020. The manga is based on the novel series of the same name written by katarinawhich are published through the site Shousetsuka ni Narou since May 2017. Katarina also wrote an additional series of novels that were published in her own Weekly Shōnen Magazine.

- Kazuyuki Fudeyasu (Black Clover, Dropkick on My Devil!, Hetalia The Beautiful World, In the Land of Leadale, Record of Ragnarok) is in charge of writing and supervising the scripts.
- Ayumi Kurashima (DEVILMAN crybaby, Megalobox 2: Nomad) is in charge of character design and animation direction.
- Monaca is responsible for the composition of the soundtrack.
Shangri-La Frontier Synopsis
Rakurou Hizutome, a second-year high school student, is only interested in one thing: finding “shitty games” and beating them up. His ability to play his games is second to none, and no game is too bad for him. So when he’s introduced to the new VR game Shangri-La Frontier, he does what he does best: max out and skip the prologue to jump straight into the action. But will even a skilled player like Rakurou be able to uncover all the secrets Shangri-La Frontier hides?
