The author of HUNTER x HUNTER has hired more assistants

As we have previously commented, the author of the popular manga HUNTER x HUNTER, Yoshihiro Togashi, keeps in constant contact with his fans through his official Twitter account. In his most recent update, the author shared some peculiar information, confirming that he has decided to increase his workforce, that is, he has hired more assistants.

«No. 399 – I finished advising my assistants on the effect of the scenarios. Waiting for the manuscript to be returned to me. No. 400 – I have to make tips. By the way, I’ve decided to hire more assistants. It takes much longer to draw with a fine marker than with a writing brush».

Since 2006, Togashi has taken numerous long breaks from publishing HUNTER x HUNTER. Some were due to illness and back pain, while the reasons for others were never revealed. In 2012, the critic Jason Thompson speculated that Togashi’s slowness was due to “because he is a perfectionist who enjoys his work and wants to do things for himself“, noting that his aides might be called in later. In his 2017 book, Sensei Hakushōwhich recounts his work as Togashi’s assistant between 1990 and 1997, Kunio Ajino he claimed that Togashi was unusually generous with his staff. In July 2022, Togashi revealed that he was unable to sit on a chair for two years due to his back and hip problems, but that he was able to resume drawing by lying down.

They’ll meet a host of monsters, creatures, and characters, all while learning what it really means to be a hunter.
