After committing the great crime of freeing an imprisoned witch, the talented knight Iska is sentenced to prison.
A year later, the leaders of the Empire suddenly decide to release him, on the condition that he hunt down a fearsome mage known as the “Witch of the Ice Calamity.” Hoping to end the war, Iska agrees. Coincidentally, the Witch of the Ice Calamity herself, Aliceliese “Alice” Lou Nebulis XI, also wishes for peace and is willing to go to any lengths to end the Empire. As Iska and Alice yearn for a quest to make the world one without struggle, misfortune, or pain, the threads of fate draw them ever closer together, creating a bond that goes beyond something concocted by mere coincidence.
