Toei records its best year in earnings thanks to One Piece Film Red

The distribution company Toei reported that its box office earnings for all films released between September 1 and September 30 of this year in Japan have amounted to more than 22 billion yen (more than 151 million US dollars), making this the best year in the company’s history.

Toei released the film One Piece Film Red in Japan on August 6 and has sold a total of 11.69 million tickets, for a cumulative total of more than 16 billion yen (over 112.2 million dollars) as of October 2. This film has become the franchise’s highest-grossing and best-selling theatrical installment, both by number of tickets sold and yen earned at the box office. In addition, it stands as the eleventh highest-grossing film of all time in Japan.

As of September 30, the film had earned more than 15.7 billion yen, which accounts for more than 70% of Toei’s box office revenue in the first nine months of the year. Other films that have done well for Toei so far this year are Dragon Ball Super: Super Heroand it should be remembered that Toei will release the film The First Slam Dunk next December 3 and the movie Kamen Rider Geats x Revice Winter Movie 2022 December 23th.
