WIT Studio and Hiromu Arakawa Announce Original Moonrise Anime
During the event TUDUM Japan 2022the platform Netflix announced the production of an original anime titled moonrise and scheduled to premiere in 2024 in the platform’s global catalog. The press release confirmed that Hiromu Arakawaauthor of the franchise full metal alchemistis in charge of character design.
Production team
- Tow Ubukata (Psycho-Pass, Heroic Age, RWBY: Hyusetsu Teikoku) handles the original story and Hiromu Arakawa (full metal alchemist) character designs are credited.
- Masashi Koizuka (Shingeki no Kyojin, Durarara!!, Guilty Crown) is directing the anime at WIT Studio.
- Ayumu Yamada (no references) is in charge of character design and animation direction.
- Ryou Kawasaki (Fumetsu no Anata e, Fate/Grand Order: Zettai Majuu Sensen Babylonia, Reikenzan: Hoshikuzu-tachi no Utage) is responsible for the composition of the soundtrack.
Synopsis for Moonrise
[Tou Ubukata x Hiromu Arakawa x WIT Studio] Earth meets the Moon in a totally original sci-fi animated series. Popular screenwriter Tou Ubukata and character designer Hiromu Arakawa team up to create a fateful story about resistance forces on the Moon who challenge the peaceful inhabitants of Earth to fight.
The Netflix series “Moonrise” tells a story written by novelist and screenwriter Tou Ubukata, who won several awards for his novel “Tenchi Meisatsu” and has composed and scripted such popular anime series as “Fafner in the Azure” and “Psycho-Pass”. Manga artist Hiromu Arakawa, who has gained overwhelming popularity for creating various classic manga series such as “Fullmetal Alchemist” and “Silver Spoon,” has designed the characters for the anime, creating an ensemble of characters full of charm.
